Theories about Bitcoin
“What if” stories. We take Bitcoin's real rules and real physics and see what happens in unusual conditions. We compute the numbers ourselves and show the math. These are not forecasts and not investment advice.
Bitcoin on Mars
readLight needs 3 to 22 minutes to cross from Earth to Mars, but a block comes every 10. What happens to mining, block time and who stays the center?
Bitcoin after the last coin (around 2140)
coming soonThe block subsidy halves every 210,000 blocks until it reaches zero. Then miners live on fees only. Can that keep the network safe?
A quantum computer vs Bitcoin
coming soonWhat a large quantum computer could and could not break in Bitcoin, which coins would be exposed first, and how the protocol could upgrade.
Research, 13 Oct 2026: Imperial College London and Orbs researchers proposed “Compact Shielded CSV”, a post-quantum, private client-side validation blockchain. Proofs and signatures stay off-chain; a single-input transaction leaves just 3 hashes on-chain (nullifier, “degriefer”, transaction commitment), with no on-chain signatures. It is a standalone design with its own consensus rules, not a way to do private transfers on Bitcoin without a soft fork (Bitcoin Magazine corrected its post on this). A preprint, not peer-reviewed and not deployed.

Bitcoin on the Moon
coming soonThe Moon is about 1.3 light-seconds away. Is that close enough to mine on the same chain as Earth?
