DCA: regular buying
Buy for the same amount on a schedule, say every month, whatever the price. You don't try to guess the bottom, and the average price smooths out over time. Works well with automatic recurring buys. Try the calculator below.

Centralised exchanges (CEX) are companies. You sign up, verify your identity (KYC) and they hold the coins for you until you withdraw them. Easy to use, but while coins are on the exchange they are not fully yours.
| Venue | Type | ID check (KYC) | In short |
|---|---|---|---|

Decentralised and peer-to-peer venues have no company holding your coins. You trade from your own wallet or directly with another person, usually without ID checks. More control, more responsibility.
| Venue | Type | ID check (KYC) | In short |
|---|---|---|---|

| RoboSats | P2P | No | Private P2P trades over the Lightning Network, used through Tor. Good for small amounts. |
| Hodl Hodl | P2P | No | P2P marketplace where coins sit in a shared multisig escrow during the trade, so the site never holds them. |
| Peach Bitcoin | P2P | No | Mobile app for P2P bitcoin trades with escrow. Bitcoin-only. |
| THORChain | swap | No | Swaps native BTC with other coins without wrapping, through apps built on THORChain. Fees and slippage vary. |

Put the whole amount in at once. If the price rises afterwards you gain more than with DCA; if it falls you feel the whole drop. History shows both outcomes. It's mostly about how much volatility you can live with.
Keep cash aside and buy only after the price has fallen, for example 20–30% from a recent high. It can lower your average price, but drops may not come when you expect, and you may sit in cash while the price climbs.
Buy, move the coins to your own hardware wallet and hold for years, ignoring daily moves. Fewer decisions, fewer fees, and no exchange risk. The key task is keeping your seed phrase backup safe.
Leverage lets you trade with borrowed money. At 10x, a 10% move against you wipes out your stake (liquidation), and BTC often moves that much in days. You also pay funding fees and never own real bitcoin. Many leveraged traders lose money.
